Ontologies of Silence
How does silence manifest itself? It could be in many ways - auditory, political, conversational, in research or exploration. In Ontologies of Silence, professor and audio artist Debashis Sinha converses with research-practitioners from from the sciences to the humanities to the arts in an effort to uncover the many ways silence makes itself felt. How and where do we encounter silences, and what do they mean for us when we do?

Ontologies Of Silence
What happens when we consider silence as a site of engagement, connection, and change, instead of as an end goal of disconnection, solitude and escape?
There are silences in our lives that we reject in favour of stimulation or distraction, and the silences we turn to as a means of recharging, nourishment, and even avoidance.
Each of these silences have at their heart a potential silencing that speaks volumes about the kinds of experiences we value, and those that we set aside.
Ontologies of Silence is a collection of conversations between myself, Debashis Sinha, and a wide variety of researchers from different fields from the hard sciences to anthropology and art. We talk about ways that silence manifests in various research paths and cultures, and ways in which silence can point the way forward in the search for knowledge.
